The following are some Frequently Asked Questions which will give clients an idea of what to expect. Please scroll down to specific questions about the ranges we guide on.
What can I book?
I offer a range of hiking options across the Galtee Mountains, Comeragh Mountains, Macgillycuddy's Reeks and Ballyhoura Mountains. Each have different
routes depending on ability, and these are broken down into Easy, Moderate and Strenuous.
I also offer custom hiking options, please get in contact to discuss these in more detail, or
scroll down to see specific information about each Mountain range.
How many people can you guide at a time?
As a qualified mountain leader I can take up to 12 people on a hike on my own. However for groups of 10 or more I will always have a second guide
assisting on the hike.
Can you take single or two clients on a hike?
Yes, but there is a minimum charge which depends on the distance and duration of hike.
What kind of equipment and clothing should I bring?
The choice of hiking gear will depend on the time of year and the difficulty of the hike. In winter, especially on the harder hikes, it is advisable
to wear sturdy boots with good grip. A rain coat, rain pants, base layer, second layer and a warm fleece.
A base layer and second layer can be a shirt, tee shirt, etc, preferably not cotton as cotton holds water/sweat and is slow to dry.
Then it's always good to bring a hat and gloves.
Additional information will be discussed in a call before the hike.
Should I bring my own food?
You will need to bring food and a drink for the hike. The amount will depend on the length abd duration of the hike.
